Quarterly Essay

The agenda-setting Quarterly Essay series was a foundation client for Pitch and one that embodies the value we place on meaningful contribution to public debate and engagement with ideas. Each essay is approximately 25,000 words on a single topic of national significance. Through our work on this mainstay of Australian political and cultural thought, we have worked closely with Australia’s best and brightest including Katharine Murphy, Jess Hill, Lech Blaine, George Megalogenis, Alan Finkel, Benjamin Law, Laura Tingle, David Marr, Sarah Krasnostein, Waleed Aly, Scott Stephens, Hugh White, Rebecca Huntley, Anna Krien, Judith Brett, David Kilcullen and more.

With an eye across the evolution of the series and the current affairs landscape, we develop a media strategy and targeted outreach for each new essay. Our campaigns ignite public debate, provoke commentary and balance vested and competing interests on some of the country’s most vexing issues.

Services included:

“Pitch Projects offer a thoroughly professional, reliable and focused service. Over several years, I have worked closely with them on highly successful Quarterly Essay campaigns…They also designed the very influential campaign for Ross Garnaut’s Superpower. They are responsive, thoughtful and, above all, effective.”
